From the Killing Fields to Living Prophecies

I’m a Cambodian exile. I came to the U.S. as a refugee when I was 8. And now, I find it deeply interesting—almost prophetic—that Cambodia and Thailand are entering a land dispute over a temple… specifically, the Preah Vihear Temple. All of this is unfolding just as we approach the 8/4–8/19 window revealed by the Lord for His new wine spiritual outpouring.

It mirrors the growing tension surrounding the Temple Mount in the Middle East. And here’s something even more striking—Cambodia is the only nation in the world with a temple on its national flag.

What are the odds? A small, hidden Gentile nation—largely overlooked in world affairs—is suddenly making headlines… and from that very nation, the Father chooses to release revelations, entrusted to a son of Cambodia, to speak and unseal prophecies for such a time as this.

In light of the current conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, I’m reminded of how our people, like the Jewish people, carry a deep wound. Just as the Holocaust scarred the Jewish soul, the Cambodian genocide—the Killing Fields—remains one of the deadliest in history. In this, we share a piece of the Jewish identity.

Few realize that, even in ancient times, the land we now call Cambodia was divided into two kingdoms—Funan and Chenla—just as ancient Israel was split into Judah and Israel. The parallels are striking. It’s as if the spiritual DNA of division, suffering, and restoration runs deep in both peoples.

Funan was the earlier coastal kingdom, known for its maritime trade and outside influence, while Chenla emerged inland as a rising power and eventually absorbed Funan. This north-south divide echoes the historical split between Israel and Judah—a pattern that seems to repeat across cultures and eras.

As it is written:
“For the house of Israel has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.”
Ezekiel 2:3

God allowed Israel to be divided as part of His plan of correction and redemption. Cambodia’s own historic fracture is not without purpose either.

Now, I’m sharing one of the revelations the Lord showed me last year—one that’s often overlooked, but timely in light of what is unfolding.

A Prophetic Revelation: The Khmer Rouge, the Tribulation, and America's Judgment

On November 5th, 2024, the American people spoke and resoundingly voted for Donald J. Trump to be the 47th President of the United States. God heard their cries and provided a leader they asked for—someone they hoped would make America great again. But what is the price of greatness? Babylon was once great and fell due to its sin. America, the modern-day Babylon, may even surpass her in both stature and iniquity. I pose a question: what is the point of greatness if there is no truth and mercy with this might? Without faith and righteousness in God, America has already begun to fall—unlike Nineveh, which repented and sought forgiveness.

"But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. Let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish."
(Jonah 3:8–9)

God has revealed His plan for America. During a recent fast, I had a dream in which I was riding in a car with my father, who was driving. My father, a survivor of the Cambodian genocide, truly embodies a remnant of resilience. In the dream, I sat in the passenger seat to his right, as his son, and I spoke to him: “America will face judgment like Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge.” My father nodded in agreement. If the son speaks and the father agrees, then this is the will of God. It’s bittersweet, knowing God chose to release this prophecy through the son of a survivor of the Khmer Rouge’s killing fields.

"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions."
(Joel 2:28)

The events that took place in Cambodia between 1972 and 1979, over a span of seven years, are not just isolated history; they are a prophetic shadow of Daniel's 70th week. This revelation draws a parallel between the Khmer Rouge’s reign of terror and the last days in a way we cannot ignore.

The height of Khmer Rouge terror lasted about 1,260 days—three and a half years—matching the prophesied duration of God’s wrath during the Great Tribulation. Just as the Khmer Rouge’s rule brought unimaginable suffering to Cambodia, so will the final half of Daniel’s 70th week, or Jacob’s trouble, bring similar destruction to the world before Christ returns. This pattern is no coincidence. God is showing us, through Cambodia’s history, a glimpse of what rebellious nations will face. Once a great empire, Cambodia committed idolatry and fell to the ground—just as the United States, in its pride and sin, is headed toward judgment.

"For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall."
(Matthew 24:21)

The year 1972 marks a critical turning point that set the stage for the Khmer Rouge’s rise in Cambodia. A striking parallel appears as we look ahead to 2026, which signifies the beginning of the final seven years before the end of this age. We are living in the shadow of these years, and 1972’s events serve as warning signs. Just three and a half years after 1972, in 1975, the fall of Phnom Penh marked Cambodia’s “abomination of desolation”—an echo of what’s prophesied for the end times.

"Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),"
(Matthew 24:15)

The election of Lon Nol in 1970 also adds a prophetic layer to this symbolism. Like Lon Nol, who rose amid political controversy and prioritized his nation, Donald J. Trump reflects a similar pattern in America’s leadership today. Lon Nol’s rise brought a moment of hope, yet the nation’s spiritual state led to calamity. The 2024 election holds profound prophetic meaning, as the world seems to be heading on a parallel trajectory. Without God and repentance, hope cannot endure.

2024—from Trump’s election to 2026, the start of Daniel’s 70th week—mirrors 1970 (Lon Nol’s election) to 1972, leading into seven years of tribulation, with the midpoint being the abomination of desolation when Pol Pot claimed power and killed millions.

The tribulation period will not come upon us unannounced; God has revealed the patterns, using history as His teaching tool for His children who hear His voice.

"Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets."
(Amos 3:7)

On April 17, 1975, Phnom Penh fell—a day that coincided with Passover that year. This timing reveals a deeper layer of understanding about the coming judgment. Passover symbolizes deliverance and protection, and April 17, 1975, serves as a spiritual marker pointing to the day when God will protect His remnant from the Antichrist spirit.

"For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you."
(Exodus 12:23)

Just as God protected the Israelites during the first Passover, He will protect His faithful during the tribulation. The mid-tribulation rapture will serve as a moment of deliverance, where the faithful are taken out before the worst begins.

In 1975, tens of thousands fled Phnom Penh before the Khmer Rouge took full control—much like how the faithful will be lifted out of tribulation’s snare. Those who were prepared and escaped before the horrors arrived were spared the worst of the suffering. At the mid-tribulation rapture, the faithful firstfruits will similarly be taken out before the Antichrist’s grip tightens.

"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of the city depart, and let not those who are in the country enter the city."
(Luke 21:20–21)

The Jewish remnant will flee into the wilderness for protection, and God’s people will again be protected during the tribulation’s darkest days. Those led into the wilderness, shielded from the Antichrist’s wrath, echo the Cambodians who fled from the Khmer Rouge, hidden and protected by God’s hand.

"But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, in order that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent."
(Revelation 12:14)

The Khmer Rouge reign lasted about 1,260 days, a period of unimaginable suffering that aligns with the second half of the tribulation. Just as the Antichrist’s power will extend for 1,260 days, the world will suffer in ways that echo Cambodia’s past—a reminder of the judgment upon nations. The parallels between Cambodia’s suffering and America’s trajectory are undeniable.

"And there was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies; and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him."
(Revelation 13:5)

The Khmer Rouge’s genocide claimed 1.7 million lives—a quarter of Cambodia’s population—a tragedy that foreshadows the wrath yet to come. Cambodia’s suffering serves as a sober reminder: the judgment upon modern-day Babylon will be devastating for the wicked.

"And the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, 'Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.'"
(Revelation 6:15–16)

America will be judged. The seven years that Cambodia endured are a foreshadow of what awaits. The events of 1972–1979 serve as a prophetic warning for the final seven years before Christ returns during Daniel’s 70th week. We are in the last days, and God is calling His people to prepare.

"For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?"
(1 Peter 4:17)

So as tensions rise over ancient stones—both in Jerusalem and Southeast Asia—we must ask ourselves: is heaven sending signals to those watching? Perhaps what the world sees as small and insignificant, God sees as strategic and chosen. Cambodia may have once been buried beneath war and silence, but now, like a temple emerging from jungle ruins, something sacred is being revealed. Not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit. And I believe the Lord is reminding us: He can raise up voices from the overlooked corners of the earth, to speak mysteries long hidden—at the exact appointed time.

Amen
